The John F Barnes method of Myofascial Release is a safe, effective hands on technique that involves applying sustained pressure into the myofascial restriction to eliminate pain and restore motion. The application of this gentle technique requires an understanding of the fascial system (connective tissue system) that surrounds and connects our body through a three-dimensional web like structure. When trauma occurs to the body, this fascial system can become restricted, resulting in pain and loss of mobility. A physical therapist trained in this method will assess the whole body to identify areas of restriction and address the cause of your symptoms. The skillful application of this manual therapy technique can improve function, restore postural alignment, and eliminate pain.
The use of Myofascial Release allows us to look at each patient as a unique individual. Our one-on-one therapy sessions are hands-on treatments during which our physical therapists use a multitude of Myofascial Release techniques and movement therapy. We promote independence through education in proper body mechanics and movement, self treatment instruction, enhancement of strength, improved flexibility, and postural and movement awareness.
